About the Workshop

Based on over 40 years of research with thousands of couples, this two-day, intimate weekend workshop will give you new insights and research-based skills that can dramatically improve the intimacy and friendship in your relationship and help you manage conflict in a healthy, positive way.  This workshop is limited to seven couples and provides an opportunity for learning, reflection, and resetting.  Please note that no public disclosure is involved during the workshop. All work is done as a couple and I will be available to provide support during exercises.

Who is the workshop for?

This workshop is designed for ALL couples in a committed relationship. You do not need to be married. If you have a strong relationship, this workshop will provide you with insights and tools to foster further closeness, friendship, and trust. If your relationship is distressed, this two-day workshop will provide you with a greater understanding of your relationship and a road map for repair.

No public discussion or disclosure is involved. There is no group work or public disclosure other than the voluntary questions that participants ask during the workshop. All work is done as a couple and Dr. Ellis will be available to provide one-on-one support during exercises. This educational workshop may not be appropriate for couples dealing with addiction, domestic violence, or other serious relationship issues. 

Speaker

Dr. Mesha Ellis is a Licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. In addition to being a Certified Gottman Method Therapist and Consultant, she is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Sex Therapy Supervisor.  Dr. Ellis has over 20 years experience specializing in therapy with couples. She also provides court referred therapy services for children/adolescents, parents, and families.

Dr. Mesha Ellis
is the founder of The Institute for Relationship Wellness & Sexual Health with practice locations in Torrance, California; Atlanta, Georgia; and Las Vegas, Nevada. She additionally provides services to residents of Tennessee.

Learn to recognize the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and what to do if they are attacking your marriage

Flooding

Learn about the effects of physiological flooding and how it may affect conflict resolution

Turning-Toward

Create an Emotional Bank Account that you can draw upon in times of stress

Create-Shared-Meaning

Identify your relationship’s specific strengths and how to build on them together

Fondness-Admiration

Use the Fondness and Admiration System to renew, respect, and care for one another

Compromise

Develop your problem-solving skills, including the six skills for effective conflict resolutions

The workshop includes science-based lectures, video demonstrations, role plays, as well as tools that partners will practice and utilize. The small, intimate group size provides an opportunity for Dr. Ellis to give one-on-one support to participating couples

Act fast, there is only room for 7 couples

Couples will work privately on exercises designed to increase warmth, intimacy, and address the challenges in their relationship. Dr. Ellis will be available to support couples one-on-one during exercises. There is no
group work, sharing, or public disclosure.

Event Policies

Transfer/Cancellation Policy:
If cancellation is made on or before 30 days prior to the workshop, a full refund minus a $75 processing fee will be given. If your cancellation occurs after the cut-off date, your registration will be converted to a credit, good for a full year, that can be applied to future workshops.

COVID-19 Policy:
All couple’s workshops and clinical trainings (“events”) hosted by the Institute for Relationship Wellness & Sexual Health (IRWSH) adhere to the following policy: *Presently, all in-person events will proceed without restrictions or limitations.* Live In-Person events will follow any social distancing mandates as well as any local ordinances, including but not limited to the recommendation of face coverings. If local statutes change and prevent a scheduled in-person event, -or- low attendance is projected, the event will be held virtually on the same dates. Should an In-Person event be switched to an online event, you may either a) attend the online event, b) request a full refund, or c) request your registration be applied toward a future event within the next 12 months.

Inclement Weather Policy:
All couple’s workshops and clinical trainings (“events”) hosted by IRWSH adhere to the following policy: Events will be cancelled due to inclement weather  ONLY if the Venue where the event is being hosted is closed, if there is a government ordered travel ban, or if the presenters are prohibited by weather from being there. If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather, you may either a) request a full refund, or b) request your registration fee to be applied to a rescheduled date or to another IRWSH event of your choosing in the next 12-month period. Any travel expenses that may have been incurred cannot be refunded. If the event is held, but weather conditions or other factors prohibit your safe travel so you are unable to attend, your registration fee will be applied to another IRWSH event of your choosing in the next 12-month period.
