What Is Online Therapy?
Online/Internet Therapy offers private counseling through the speed and convenience of the Internet. The main difference in Online Therapy is that you do not go to the therapist’s office. Instead, you and the therapist use the Internet to exchange information in real time using a video conferencing platform.
We offer HIPAA compliant distance therapy to individuals throughout California, Georgia, Nevada, and Tennessee for the treatment of the following issues:
- Pre-marital Counseling
- Couple, Marital, and Relationship Issues
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Sexual Concerns
- Low Self Esteem
- Familial and Parenting Problems
- Interpersonal Skills
- Behavioral Difficulties
Our online therapy clients always have the option of coming to our office for treatment if they decide that they would prefer face-to-face therapy.
Online Therapy Is Ideally Suited For Clients In The Following Situations:
• Clients who have a physical or medical condition which limits their mobility.
• Clients with psychological conditions which restrict travel.
• Clients who prefer to hold psychotherapy sessions from the comfort of their homes.
• Clients who live in areas distant from our offices who are unable to find specialized care near their home.
• Existing clients who are are traveling and are unable to attend regularly scheduled sessions in our offices.
• Existing clients who experience a sudden, unexpected scheduling conflict that precludes them from being able to attend a previously scheduled appointment.
• Those with extremely busy work schedules who would not otherwise be able to regularly come to our offices for treatment.
• Pregnant women or new moms who would otherwise find it very difficult to regularly attend therapy.
Online therapy is not designed or adequate to provide the help you need if you are in crisis. You should call your primary care physician, the police, dial 911, or seek help at your local emergency room if you are experiencing an emergency. Additionally, you may call the National Suicide Hotline at 800.784.2433 which offers crisis and suicide prevention resources 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
Confidentiality and Online Therapy
Both the client and our therapists are responsible for maintaining confidentiality. Due to the potential security risks associated with the Internet in general, the following precautions, exercised by the client, are required to insure that the communications are as secure as possible.
• Remember that using the internet is never 100% secure.
• Protect others from gaining access to your computer by using a password to protect your files.
• Do not use a computer at someone else’s place of residence or business.
• Install a Firewall and maintain an updated anti-virus program to give maximum protection from a hacker or virus.
